Teens Against Gangs video contest

March 17, 2011

Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit - BC celebrates the efforts of British Columbian students who took part in the recent Teens Against Gangs video contest.

Sponsored by CFSEU's Gang Task Force, the Vancouver Sun, CBC and Taxi Advertising, the contest was held to get kids talking about the dangers associated with the gang lifestyle.

Supt. Tom McCluskie who leads CFSEU's Gang Task Force and who helped to judge the Top 10 finalists, said police not only deal with the violence wreaked by gang members, but also the devastation experienced by their families and friends, and in some cases, the families and friends of innocent victims who are caught in the crossfire of a gang war.

Supt. McCluskie was encouraged by the student's powerful messages contained in the 30 second public service announcements they created, and said the videos "brought me a lot of hope and admiration for our youth."

To view the videos, please click on the Top 3 winning entries below from Richmond's HughBoyd secondary (Loaded Words), and two from Killarney secondary school (Tick) and (TeacherWars). To view all 10 entries please go to the Vancouver Sun website.
