Working within the BC RCMP Hub, the Organized Crime Agency of BC (OCABC) is recruiting for a Database Administrator to provide database support to the administrative and operational functions of the BC RCMP Hub.

**Please note this is a 2 year contract and non remote position.**

Working under the direct supervision of the BC RCMP Hub Supervisor, responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

• Solves complex problems dealing with database issues including: database backup and recovery procedures; database disaster recovery procedures; database management systems; security, and access
• Responsible for maintaining data integrity, confidentiality and security for BC RCMP Hub databases
• Maintains knowledge of trends and developments in database applications, database management systems, computer systems analysis techniques and practices, database servers, database administration development tools, user productivity tools, database design, systems development, and security standards including database back-up and recovery techniques

• Conducts research and feasibility studies to facilitate the evaluation, development, maintenance and renewal of complex data administration and database issues
• Responsible for definition and implementation of data models and database management tools
• Responsible for database software release, implementation and migration planning
• Participates on project teams and working groups in the development, testing and implementation of changes to departmental data administration and database frameworks, standards, programs and management plans

The successful candidate must possess strong leadership skills with the following qualifications:

• Relevant Bachelor’s degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, or a combination of a college diploma/certificate in a relevant field as well as several years of related experience
• Experience designing, developing, configuring, deploying, and maintaining database management systems (SQL Servers, PostgreSQL, Oracle)
• Knowledge of the theories, principles and practices of computer science, System Development Life Cycle (SDLC), data administration and database design and development, data modeling, database administration, database integrity, capacity planning, performance and tuning
• Ability to analyze and present complex data to technical and non-technical audiences
• Valid BC Driver’s License (Class 5)
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret RCMP Security Clearance while employed with OCABC
• Ability to work in Canada
• This is a non-remote position so the successful candidate will be required to attend the office in Surrey BC.
