BC Witness Security Program (BCWSP) Finance Administrator     **Job Expires on October 13, 2020**

6 month contract – Green Timbers location

Working within the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit – BC (CFSEU-BC), the Organized Crime Agency of BC (OCABC) is recruiting a hard-working, self-motivated candidate working up to 37.50 hours per week, for the BCWSP Finance Administrator position to provide overall financial, and administrative support to the BCWSP section to ensure that specialized Witness Security policies are adhered to.

Reporting to the BCWSP Inspector, this position will be responsible for:

  • Processing BCWSP investigative funding requests and allocated funding to partner agencies
  • Processing RO580 expenditures and disbursements
  • Responding to inquiries from various Police Agencies, Police Officers, as well as members of the public
  • Reviewing, processing, and reconciling a wide variety of financial transactions (e.g. invoices, claims,

    requests for payment, travel, etc.)

  • Verifying financial data received for completeness and accuracy, and returning non-compliant transactions

    to originator

  • Providing suggestions on various transactions and financial coding to resolve errors and correct

    unmatched entries

  • Making recommendations regarding work procedures, internal policy, processes and guidelines in order to

    improve or streamline the reconciliation processes

  • Providing information and responding to queries and issues raised by internal and external

    customers/suppliers

  • Identifying and correcting financial coding errors and other anomalies
  • Verifying coding and ensuring documents are correctly authorized (in accordance with the required

    delegation of financial authority)

  • Receiving, processing/administering, tracking and filing all purchase orders
  • Maintaining filing systems, such as archiving and retrieving files
  • Overseeing various bank accounts, and all transactions, payments and reconciliation
  • Maintaining various databases and extensive spreadsheets on excel
  • Other related duties, as required

    We are looking for a strong team player with a great attitude and the following qualifications:

    • High school completion, as well as additional course related to finance/accounting
    • 1-3 years of relevant experience, preferably in a police environment
    • Working knowledge of accounting techniques and practices
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Solid organizational skills with particular emphasis on attention to detail
    • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills with the ability to work with minimal supervision
    • Experience working with RO580 funds and financial processes is an asset
    • Ability to obtain and maintain an RCMP Top Secret security clearance
    • Note: these positions require in-office attendance. COVID safety measurements will be in place.

      Hourly Salary: Step 1 – $28.895, Step 2 – $30.050, Step 3 – $31.206, Step 4 – $32.362, Step 5 – $33.518
