Multiple Contracts (6 months) – Green Timbers location

Working within the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit – BC (CFSEU-BC), the Organized Crime Agency of BC (OCABC) is recruiting hard-working, self-motivated candidates for one or more BCWSP Project Employee positions, working up to 37.50 hours per week, to provide overall financial, administrative and disclosure support to the BCWSP section to ensure that specialized Witness Security policies are adhered to.

Reporting to the BCWSP Inspector, this position will be responsible for:

  • Managing the BCWSP investigative funding requests and allocated funding to partner agencies
  • Planning, administering and interpreting financial data, as well as ensuring financial accuracy through review and

    reconciliation

  • Managing and handling the RO580 expenditures and disbursements
  • Assisting the Line Officer with establishing and maintaining effective and efficient relationships with partner agencies across

    the province and country

  • Facilitating training for the BCWSP unit
  • Assisting in the preparation of BCWSP disclosure packages for court
  • Ensuring that all legal aspects of WSP disclosure are adhered to and that policies, procedures and case law principles for

    witness security are applied in a correct and consistent manner

  • Exercising considerable judgment in the disclosure and vetting of sensitive WSP information from a covert perspective to

    identify privileged or operationally sensitive information contained in files

  • Coordinating and overseeing disclosure materials such as: tracking and managing incoming file material
  • Assisting with assembling and organizing all hard copy material for the Witness Security program in a systematic way and in

    line with the guidelines set out by Crown so the information can be located and referred to by Crown in a simple and efficient

    manner

  • Liaising and working in cooperation with Crown prosecutors (PPSC, DOJ and AG of BC) and other law enforcement

    agencies

  • Participating in the daily operations of the BCWSP section, and managing the administrative work for the unit
  • Preparing correspondence, reports and take briefing minutes, as required
  • Developing and maintaining the filing system including disposing, archiving and retrieving files
  • Assisting the Line Officer with scheduling, travel arrangements, meetings and other administrative duties, as required

    We are looking for a strong team player with a great attitude and the following qualifications:

    • Minimum 3-5 years experience in a police environment
    • Knowledge/experience with various police databases such as PRIME would be an asset
    • Experience/involvement in major criminal investigations
    • Experience in handling, analyzing and extracting pertinent and protective and sensitive information
    • Understanding and familiarity with the concept and requirements of the Reports to Crown Counsel
    • Understanding of complex investigations involving Disclosure and liaising with Crown Counsel
    • Strong understanding of accounting
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Solid organizational skills with particular emphasis on attention to detail
    • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills with the ability to work with minimal supervision
    • Experience in RO580 funds management and financial processes is an asset
    • Ability to obtain and maintain an RCMP Top Secret security clearance
